Early Voting In-Person
Before visiting the registrar’s office, you may wish to check your registration status.
Deadline to register to vote, or update an existing registration: October 15, 2024 (Voters may register after this date, through Election Day, and vote using a provisional ballot).
You can vote early at the registrar’s office in Montross beginning on September 20th and ending on November 2nd.
You do not have to have a reason or fill out an application to vote early.
At the registrar’s office, you must provide your name and address and show an acceptable form of ID. To view a complete list of acceptable IDs, please visit the Virginia Dept. of Elections Voting In-Person page.
Applying to Vote by Mail - absentee
All PAPER absentee application forms can be found on the Virginia Department of Elections website Voter Forms page >>>. You may request this application from the registrar’s office as well.

You Can Submit Your "Vote By Mail" Application Form By Mail, Fax, Or Email
Download and complete the Vote by Mail Application Form (En Español).
Return the completed and signed form to the registrar's office by mail, fax, or scanned attachment to an email.
After the registrar processes your application, ballots will be mailed beginning September 20 and the last day to request a mail-in ballot is October 25th.
Carefully review the instructions to complete and return your ballot to your local registrar by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. Ensure that you have fully completed your ballot according the exact instructions before returning it.
